Welcome to the Southeastern States Pupil Transportation Conference web site! I hope you find our web site to be useful and easy to navigate. Please feel free to let me know of any suggested changes or items you think should be included on our web site.
SESPTC is the oldest and one of the most prestigious regional conferences on school transportation in the nation. The membership for this Conference is chosen exclusively from the fourteen member southeastern states, with delegates chosen and invited by each of these states’ representatives. The information presented in the conference sessions annually update school transportation professionals on current topics and issues regarding safe and efficient school transportation. Participants include local school system transportation directors, state school transportation officials, and others involved in the field of school transportation.
The goals of the SESPTC are:
1. To maintain and to improve the safety and education of public school children through efficient and safe pupil transportation programs.
2. To maintain and further develop high standards for public school transportation programs and for personnel involved therein.
3. To lobby state or federal legislature and regulatory agencies for cause and concerns, to testify for and against proposed legislation/regulations, and to solicit membership in this corporation.
The SESPTC also includes an exceptional trade show during the first two days of the conference. Trade show participants include school bus manufacturers, dealers, vendors, and others who provide equipment, products, and services to the school transportation industry. These providers are an important part of our conference and are important to the success of SESPTC. During the trade show, participants have the opportunity to learn about the latest innovative products available on the market.
In 2005 the SESPTC initiated the Buster Bynum Scholarship program. This scholarship program provides scholarships for children of school bus transportation employees. Each year, $1,000 scholarships are awarded for two deserving high school seniors in each of the 14 member southeastern states. For more information regarding the scholarship program, contact your local high school counselor, local school system transportation director, or state director of pupil transportation.
Additional information about the SESPTC can be secured from your state director of pupil transportation or by visiting the SESPTC website at www.sesptc.com
I look forward to seeing you at the 2008 conference in Atlanta, Georgia!
